Buying a flat-pack kit: what should I check first?

What should I measure before ordering?

Measure the room, then compare the product and package dimensions with your doorway, hallway turns, stairs, and elevator. The largest package needs to fit the full route into your home. Check assembled and package dimensions for each selected product separately. Make a one-bedroom room-layout record

Record an activity route, not just a furniture outline

Start with the furniture configuration that you are actually reviewing, including the selected bed size and separately chosen items. Keep its current product links or selection reference with the room sketch. A saved configuration can help identify a choice; it does not verify that the choice fits your room.

For each everyday route, write down its start and destination: entering a room, reaching the bed, moving between seating and dining areas, or accessing a work surface. Mark the door’s opening path, fixed obstructions and furniture parts that need movement, such as a drawer. Use measurements from your room and the published assembled dimensions for the exact selected product. Keep delivery-carton measurements in the separate access record.

Record one unresolved conflict per row. Identify the activity, the relevant furniture item or moving part, the measurement source and what still needs confirmation. Try a different proposed position or omit an optional item on the sketch, then review the same activity again. Do not treat a universal gap, an attractive render or a successful carton delivery as proof that everyday use will work.

If a bed-size option does not have a matching frame specification, leave that footprint unconfirmed rather than substituting the Queen table for King. A room route also does not establish structural loading, accessible-design compliance or emergency-egress approval. Where those questions apply, request advice from the appropriate building or qualified professional.

Keep confirmed observations separate from proposals. This blank review record contains no measured customer example and is not a room-design service or an approval to install furniture.

Copy a blank activity-route record header (CSV); keep your room sketch and record privately. This page does not collect or save them.

How do I choose the right configuration?

Choose a room, then review the selected product’s available options and specifications. Record the exact selection when asking the team to review a configuration. Review active selections and separately selected options; confirm actual kit contents. Review kit selections and optional items If product details are unavailable, contact the team before ordering.

Is assembly time the same as delivery time?

No. Assembly time describes putting the product together after it arrives. Follow the instructions for that product; assembly time is not a delivery estimate. See how the craft and logistics process works before ordering. Read how it works.

How do I compare product price with a delivered furniture quote?

A product-price line does not include destination delivery unless the quotation explicitly says it does. Ask for a written, itemized quote for the exact configuration and destination. Compare confirmed amounts and included services, not a headline price or the letters DDP alone. This guide is a review record, not a live quote, delivery approval or payment instruction.

1. Identify the same selection and destination

Record each product or configuration, its options, quantity and the date you checked the selection. Keep separately selected items separate from the core kit. Ask which items are available for that configuration; a product appearing on the website is not a confirmed delivery booking. State the destination country and the location detail needed for an initial quote. Do not post your address or floor plan publicly. If the team needs more detail, confirm the appropriate private channel. Two quotes for different quantities, finishes or destinations are not a like-for-like comparison, even if their totals look similar.

2. Separate the amounts without counting them twice

Ask for the product amount, any confirmed configuration adjustments, freight and the import charges that apply to the destination. For each line, record the currency, whether it is included in another subtotal, and whether it is confirmed or estimated. Do not add a duty or tax line again when it is already inside an import-charge subtotal. Ask the team to explain any other delivery or handling charge rather than inventing an allowance. Add only non-overlapping, confirmed amounts in one currency. An omitted charge is unknown, not zero; record zero only when the quote explicitly confirms that nothing is charged for that line.

3. Confirm what the quoted DDP terms cover

DDP means Delivered Duty Paid, but the label alone does not show the itemization for your order. Ask which delivery location the quote covers, which freight and import charges are included, and which amounts remain estimates. Ask whether any destination-specific taxes or other charges could be payable separately and how they would be confirmed. Keep the answer with the quote rather than assuming that every possible local service is covered. If a seller describes an all-in total, ask how that total relates to the individual lines so you can distinguish included amounts from exclusions. Unclear terms stay pending until they are explained.

4. Keep the delivery service and timing separate

Confirm whether the quoted service ends at a named delivery point and whether room placement, stairs, elevator handling, assembly or packaging removal are included, excluded or still unconfirmed. None of those services follows automatically from a freight amount. Ask separately about product availability, production and transport estimates, and what event starts each estimate. Record when the quote was issued, how long it remains valid and which assumptions could change the amount or schedule. A building delivery slot or an assembly plan does not establish the arrival date. Ask the relevant team to review building-access requirements separately from the price; a price does not prove that a package will pass.

5. Decide whether the comparison is complete

Put the same selection, quantities, destination, currency and service scope beside each other before comparing totals. If currencies differ, agree the comparison rate and date rather than presenting an unverified conversion as the payable amount. Keep a list of missing or estimated lines and ask which changes require a revised quote. Do not rank an incomplete quote as cheaper just because its freight or taxes are blank. When the itemization or destination eligibility is unresolved, the next step is a clarification request, not a purchase decision. This process does not promise a discount, a fixed price or availability in any country.

6. Copy a quote-review record for your enquiry

Selection and options: ____ | Quantities and separately selected items: ____ | Destination for review: ____ | Quote reference and issue date: ____ | Currency: ____ | Product amount: ____ | Freight: ____ | Duties, taxes and other import charges: ____ | Included-in-subtotal notes: ____ | Confirmed total, or pending: ____ | Included and excluded delivery services: ____ | Production and transport estimates with start events: ____ | Valid-until date and change conditions: ____ | Unknown or estimated items and who must confirm them: ____. Keep this record with the written quote so later changes can be compared against the same assumptions.

Online checkout remains closed. Use the existing contact page to ask about your configuration and destination, with the unresolved quote questions from your record. Sending an enquiry is not a confirmed price, order or delivery booking. This guide does not confirm that a message has been submitted or received. Read shipping information. See the FAQ. Ask about your configuration and destination.
